The Pizza Corner: A little Thai jewel on Koh Phi Phi

During our wonderful holiday week in Phuket in southern Thailand, we decided to take the boat across to the islands of Koh Phi Phi and spend a couple of days there. If you've seen the movie 'The Beach' with Leonardo DiCaprio, then you've seen Koh Phi Phi, as that is where it was filmed. The two islands that make up Koh Phi Phi (Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh) are absolutely beautiful, with white sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters and perfect sunshine. Koh Phi Phi is a dream for scuba divers and snorkellers as well as anyone who wants to spend a little bit of time in paradise!

On the same street as our hotel, the Phi Phi Banyan Villa on Phi Phi Don (all accomodation and restaurants are on Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Leh is uninhabited), we discovered a little jewel of a restaurant called The Pizza Corner. Naturally, the restaurant does pizzas as well as pasta, hamburgers and other standard "Western" dishes. But much to our surprise, the Thai food there was amazing, cheap (all curries and main dishes at 80 bhat, which is about 2 Euros), freshly made...quite possibly the best food that we had in Thailand!

In fact, we loved The Pizza Corner so much that we had all of our meals there while staying on Koh Phi Phi. This in spite of a great selection of good, cheap restaurants everywhere on Phi Phi Don. That's how good it was! Some of the dishes we ate...

Tom kha (hot & sour coconut milk soup with vegetables)

Som tam (papaya salad)

Penang curry with vegetables
As in most places in Thailand, the service was gracious and kind. Here's the waitress who served us during all of our meals. She has a beautiful smile!

If you're lucky enough to vacation in Phuket and/or Koh Phi Phi, be sure to check out The Pizza Corner! In a place with no real roads, there is certainly no address...but it is on the main street from Tonsai Bay, where you get off the ferry from Phuket, and next to the popular Apache Bar. If you make it there and have a meal, you will be glad you did!

  2. I saw your name and immediately clicked expecting to be transported to Paris for a few moments. But this time you plunked me down in Thailand...a place I've never been but now feel compelled to go. I love the smiling picture of the lovely chef. The food and scenery look amazing. Think I'll have to settle and just order Thai tonight. Thanks for sharing. I love your posts!
